Public Transportation Accessibility

In collaboration with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), the city department in charge of the public transportation system in Chicago, TAP created rule cards for individuals with disabilities who utilize buses and trains. We met with CTA safety agents and discussed the types of accidents and problems most often identified by transportation users, such as running, slipping and falling. Additionally, certain unspoken social rules exist related to riding the train and bus, and our clinicians felt they were important to address for individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Instructions:

  1. Download and print rule cards.
  2. Cut apart on dotted lines.
  3. Use hole punch to create a hole through the solid black circle on the corner of each card.
  4. Assemble on a key ring for easy reference.
